Detailed Itinerary for 14 Days Gorillas and Serengeti combo Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

Arrival at Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport to start your 14 Days Gorillas and Serengeti combo Safari. You’ll be met by a professional safari guide who welcomes you and then transfers you to your booked hotel within Entebbe. You’ll spend the rest of the day relaxing at your lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: City Tour of Kampala

After breakfast, you’ll drive to Kampala City, Uganda’s capital for a city tour. While in Kampala, you can visit different tourist sites including bustling city markets, cathedrals, Kasubi tombs (burial sites for Buganda kings), the Uganda Museum, or a crafts market. Lunch will be enjoyed at a fancy city restaurant. After your lunch, you’ll continue with exploration. If time allows, you’ll also visit the Ndere Center for a troupe local dance show.

After your adventure, you’ll drive to your booked hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

On the third day of this 14 Days Gorillas and Serengeti combo Safari, you’ll embark on along drive to Kibale National Park where your first primate adventure awaits. Following breakfast, depart your hotel and drive to Kibale National Park. Although this journey takes about 5 to 6 hours, ours may even seem much longer as our target will be to have lunch in Fort portal and explore the tea plantations along the way, arriving at our booked safari lodge in Kibale in the evening. Also known as ‘‘the primate capital of the world’’ Kibale forest is rich in primates with up to 13 different species found here – although popular for its large population of chimpanzees (1,500 chimps live here). Other primate species here include; Black and white colobus – red colobus, red tailed monkey, and cheeked mangabeys among others.

Arrive at your booked safari lodge and check in. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Chimps Trekking Experience in Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast embark on the chimpanzee trekking adventure. Kibale Forest National Park is a rainy forest and home to over 1500 Chimpanzees and you can get close and capture shots of our closest cousins in the Jungle in their frenzy exciting moods, and grooming! The trekking experience starts with a briefing at the park headquarters. After briefing you’ll follow the lead of your ranger guide and indulge in the deep jungles of Kibale to search for these primates. The trekking experience can last for about 1 to 4 hours in the thick jungles.

You’ll finally allocate the primates in the jungle and enjoy about 1 full hour observing them, their playful antics will put a smile on your face. After the trek, we will return to the lodge, enjoy a refreshing meal, and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The journey is about 2 hours, taking you through the beautiful crater areas. Arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park in the late afternoon and proceed to your books safari lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5: Game-Drive and Boat Cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park in the cool morning for opportunities to witness various wildlife species. Start your day with a sunrise game drive that exposes you to diverse animals including big 5 members like elephants, buffaloes, big cats- lions, leopards, warthogs, and hunchback carnivals like hyenas among others.

You’ll also have opportunities to spot the diverse bird life especially different versions of storks in the wetland, flamingos in the salt lakes among others. After the adventure, return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch and a short relaxation at the lodge, embark on a 2-hour boat cruise on the famous Kazinga channel, a 36km channel linking Lake George – Lake Edward. Here you can see land and water adapted hippopotamuses yawning and some slashing canines to each other and the National Geographical society killing machine the Nile crocodile gaping along the banks and the different version of pigs the warthog. Later return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha

Wake up and have breakfast. After breakfast, embark on a transfer to the Ishasha part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a game drive in this adventurous vast savanna area with topis and elephants to get the lions high in the fig tree branches. After a game drive and hopefully seeing the lions, continue with a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Arrive in Bwindi in the late afternoon and proceed to your booked safari lodge. Check-in at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today you’ll enjoy the long-awaited mountain gorilla trekking experience. Start your day with an early morning breakfast. After breakfast, head out to the park headquarters for a briefing session about gorilla trekking. After the briefing session, you’ll be put into small groups of about 8 members which are then allocated gorilla families to track.

Grab your trekking stick and gear and indulge in the impenetrable jungles of Bwindi to search for the mountain gorillas. The trek takes you through the challenging terrains and thick forests with thick undergrowth although the reward of witnessing the majestic giant in their natural habitat is worth all the effort. After trekking for hours, you’ll finally locate these majestic giants in the jungle. You’ll then spend a full hour observing them, taking photos, and filming them as they go by their day.

After your allocated time elapses, start the trek back to the visitors center where you’ll receive your certificate of participation. Return to the lodge for a refreshing meal and then embark on a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is known for its beautiful scenery. Arrive at your lodge and check-in. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 8: Relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi

Enjoy a full day relaxing at the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. If you are interested in more adventures, there are various activities like swimming, taking a boat ride, and walking that can be arranged at an extra cost. Not that activities this day are optional and not included in the price.

Day 9: Transfer Back to Entebbe

Start your day with a relaxed breakfast before starting the drive to Entebbe. With lunch stop on the way and getting some time to stretch the legs at the equator. Arrive at Entebbe in the late afternoon and proceed to your booked hotel in Entebbe. Dinner and Overnight at hotel in Entebbe.

Day 10: Fly to Kilimanjaro International Airport & Transfer to Manyara

After breakfast get ready for the air transfer to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania where your guide will pick you up and drive you to Manyara to spend the night. Here you get a good rest to be ready for the next adventure that awaits in Serengeti. You’ll spend the rest of your day relaxing at your lodge in Manyara. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 11: Transfer to Explore the Serengeti National Park

Today you’ll explore the iconic Serengeti National Park for the first wildlife viewing experience in Tanzania. You’ll drive to Serengeti for about 2 to 3 hours, arrive in the park, and enjoy a short en route game drive to your lodge.

Arrive at the lodge and check-in. Lunch will be served at the lodge. After lunch, embark on your first wildlife adventure in Serengeti National Park. Serengeti National Park is renowned for its large numbers of wildlife that roam its vast savannas. Among the species that yiou can expect to encounter are the “African Big 5″ – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino and the large herds of mammal grazers including wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles. You’ll explore various spots within the park for wildlife viewing opportunities. After your wildlife safari, drive back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

 Day 12: Experience Serengeti National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you’ll spend the morning exploring the vast Serengeti and we move from location to location in search of different wildlife. For those interested in witnessing the great wildebeest migration, you’ll have an opportunity to follow the migration trails. Later after your adventure, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 13: Serengeti National Park-Ngorongoro Crater

Today you’ll explore the Ngorongoro Crater, sometimes referred to as the ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ’8th Natural Wonder of the World’. The Ngorongoro Crater is renowned for its breathtaking natural wonder referred to as the world’s biggest wildlife zoo, due to its high density of resident game.

In the afternoon you’ll descend to the crater floor where you will be amazed by the sheer number and diversity of animals and birdlife. Standing in our pop-up safari vehicle the viewing opportunities are endless, just deciding which way to look and what to look at, the choices are unlimited. The sheer excitement as we spot any of the big 5. Tonight as we relax we reflect on what has been a truly remarkable journey like no other experience and marvel at the wonders of the amazing wildlife East Africa has to offer. After your adventure in the crater floor, ascend back to the crater rim where your safari lodge is located.

Day 14: Transfer to Arusha / Kilimanjaro & Flight

Wake up and enjoy breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, start your drive back to Arusha. This drive will take about 4 to 5 hours, arriving at Arusha in time for lunch. Enjoy lunch and after transfer to the airport to catch your departure flight back home.
