The trek can last between three to five hours, depending on the movements of the chimpanzees and the weather conditions.

After the trek, return to your lodge for a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which links Lake Edward and Lake George. The Ishasha sector is also known for its stunning landscapes, with wide open plains, deep craters, and the dramatic escarpment of the Western Rift Valley. After an early breakfast, you’ll be driven to the park headquarters for a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. The trek can take between two to eight hours, depending on the location of the gorillas, and it requires a reasonable level of fitness as you navigate through dense vegetation, steep slopes, and sometimes muddy terrain.

But the effort is well worth it. Once you find the gorillas, you’ll have an hour to observe them as they go about their daily lives – feeding, playing, resting, and caring for their young. This close encounter with one of the world’s most critically endangered species is a profoundly moving experience that you’ll cherish forever.
