Detailed day by day 8 Days Kenya & Mountain Gorillas – Uganda Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Entebbe

You will arrive at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda. Upon your arrival, you will be driven to your reserved Hotel to rest from the long flight. Your driver will brief you about your 8 Days Kenya & Mountain Gorillas Safaris as you drive to your hotel. The rest of your afternoon, you will spend it in your hotel relaxing.

There is an optional adventure on this day for the energetic visitors. You can add a City excursion to the top historical and cultural sites of Kampala City, art galleries, and museums.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, your driver guide will arrive with your private safari vehicle to transfer you to the renowned Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for an insight into the true African Jungles. Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful sceneries and landscapes, enjoy your lunch en-route.

This National Park is distant from Kampala, Uganda’s Capital and it is approximately 8 to 9 hours’ drive. Although the journey is long, it is rewarding with jaw-dropping countryside views, incredible street art and craft, sights of Ankole long-horned cattle, and traditional villages. Arrive in late afternoon and drive to your lodge where you will have dinner and spend the rest of the night.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The long awaited gorilla trekking will be done today! You will wake up early in the morning and have breakfast at your lodge, your driver guide will be ready waiting to transfer you to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking experience. At the park headquarters, you will join a group of other trekkers or visitor for a briefing on dos and don’t during gorilla trekking.

You will then be allocated to a gorilla group and a team of ranger guides will lead you with other members into the jungle to search for these massive giants.

Bwindi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with abundant beauty and form that will amaze you during your gorilla trekking tour. You will follow your guide to search for gorillas and the trek takes 2-4 hours, sometimes being as long as 6 hours or as little as 30 minutes. After locating the gorillas, you will spend one hour  observing these massive giants in their natural habitat, and take some photographs as mountain gorillas go about their daily routines. After the trek, you will return to the starting point (visitors) center where your driver guide will be waiting to transfer you back to your lodge.

Late in the evening, visit the Batwa Village/community for a cultural experience. Enjoy listening to legends of the past, and witness the great impact of the traditional dance performance, survival skills, and much more. Later return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park-Kampala

This beautiful morning, you will depart Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Kampala. We will pass by the beautiful Lake Mburo National Park for a short game drive giving you an opportunity to spot the Burchell’s zebras, Cape buffaloes, common warthogs, giant elands, Oribis, bushbucks, Olive baboons, Vervet monkeys, Topis and Rothschild giraffes among others. Arrive in Late evening and check-in your booked hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Scheduled flight from Entebbe-Masai Mara National Reserve

Today in the morning embark on a chartered flight from Entebbe Airport to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The flight from Entebbe to Kenya is a two-hour direct flight. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, embark on a transfer to Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve for your next adventure. Arrive and check-in at your booked accommodation facility. You will  spend the rest of your day relaxing at the lodge.

Day 6 & 7:  Exploring Masai Mara National Reserve – Searching for Big Five

Enjoy exploring the Mara plains to spot different wildlife species on wildlife safari game drives. Masai Mara is renowned for its year-round large numbers of wildlife that you can spot during your Kenya safaris. The reserve hosts a number of spectacular natural phenomena such as the great wildebeest migration, an annual event where over 2 million mammal grazers especially wildebeest migrate into the reserve from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.
