After exploring the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and tracking mountain gorillas in the wild, this 16 Days East Africa Safari/16 Days Uganda, Tanzania & Kenya Safari will then take you to Tanzania, where your next adventure awaits. Tanzania is one of the most popular African Safari destinations in the world. Tanzania is popular for Big Five viewing safari/ Wildlife viewing safaris and the iconic Wildebeest migration that takes place in the iconic Serengeti National Park. During your time in Tanzania, you’ll enjoy wildlife viewing on safari game drives in Serengeti, Tarangire National Park, and the Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll also have an opportunity to embark on a hot air balloon ride over the vast Serengeti Savanas as you view the large herds of wildlife below. After your adventure in Tanzania, you’ll transfer to Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve for the next adventure. After your wildlife safari experience in Masai Mara National Reserve, you’ll visit Lake Nakuru National Park for your next adventure. This 16-Day East Africa Safari will conclude with a transfer to Nairobi city, where you’ll spend a night before flying back home on the next day.

Detailed Day-by-Day 16-Day East Africa Safari Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Uganda | Entebbe

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed to Uganda for this 16 Days East African Safari our representative, who will then transfer you to a hotel in Entebbe. Depending on your arrival time, you can spend the remainder of the day relaxing after your international journey and preparing for the safari ahead, or do optional activities around Entebbe Town including visiting the local markets, the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC), and the botanical gardens, among others.

Have dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel in Entebbe.

Day 2 – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On this second day of your 16 Days Safari in East Africa, you’ll wake up early in the morning at around 6:00 am and have breakfast before beginning the scenic journey from Entebbe towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. This drive takes you through changing landscapes, with the urban environment around Entebbe gradually giving way to Uganda’s countryside teeming with rolling hills and lush greenery. The journey takes you through the rural communities, agricultural areas, and traditional settlements, giving you an opportunity to witness the every day life in Uganda. You’ll pass through small towns and and some major towns where you’ll see the local people as they do busines. Uganda’s local towns are remarkable places to see as you travel through the country.

You’ll have a stop at Mbarara City where you’ll be able to enjoy an en-route lunch on your way. After lunch continue with your journey southwards towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon or evening, check in, and relax.

Your guide will brief you about the following day’s gorilla trek, including what to expect, what to carry, and appropriate conduct around the gorillas. Dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3 – Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today is the highlight of your Ugandan experience as you’ll enjoy mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters where you’ll join other visitors for the gorilla trekking experience and a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority guides and trackers. You will then enter the ancient rainforest in search of your allocated gorilla family. Depending on the location of the gorilla family, you’ll spend anywhere between 30 minutes to 6 hours in the wild.

After locating the gorillas, you will have an unforgettable encounter with them as you’ll spend a full hour observing them in their natural environment. You’ll witness their social interactions, feeding, grooming, and movement through the forest while your guide explains their behaviour.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. The afternoon can be spent resting at the lodge or, you go for an optional Batwa Cultural tour in the local communities. The Batwa Pygmies are a forest hunter-gatherer tribe that used to inhabit the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Due to the need to conserve the mountain gorillas and their habitat, they were relocated to the outskirts of the park, where they have recently settled permanently. Visiting them during this grand 16 Days East African Safari gives you an opportunity to learn about their culture and traditions. You’ll enjoy their cultural performances and learn about their ways of survival in the forest.

Later, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4 – Fly to Entebbe & Connect to Kilimanjaro International Airport

After breakfast, transfer to the Kisoro Airstrip for your flight back to Entebbe. On arrival in Entebbe, connect to your international flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), Tanzania.

Upon arrival in Tanzania, you will be met by our Tanzanian safari representative and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s famous northern safari circuit. The evening will be reserved for relaxation and preparation for the safari that begins the following morning.

Day 5 – Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive towards Tarangire National Park, one of the major destinations on Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. Enter the park and begin your first Tanzanian game drive. Tarangire is particularly renowned for its dramatic baobab landscapes and large elephant concentrations, with wildlife activity often centred around the Tarangire River and other water sources. TANAPA describes the park as particularly famous for its elephants and baobab-dotted scenery.

Your game drive will take you through open savannah, woodland and areas surrounding the river, with opportunities to observe the changing landscapes and wildlife throughout the afternoon. Enjoy a picnic or lodge lunch depending on the safari arrangements before continuing with the game drive. Later in the afternoon, leave the park and proceed towards your accommodation.
