Day 1: Pick up and transfer toMurchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary 

At around 6:00 am, your driver safari guide will pick you up from your hotel to start your 5 Days Big Five Safari in Uganda. This journey starts with a drive to the famous Murchison Falls National Park. You’ll drive northwest of the country passing through different popular towns. The first stop on this journey will be at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola. At Ziwa, visitors will go for a rhino tracking experience. The experience starts with a briefing and later the visitors are first driven to where the rhinos are located. Following the lead of an armed ranger guide, visitors will then embark on a rhino tracking experience on foot. Visitors here will enjoy viewing the rhinos up close with opportunities to take photographs and videos of these magnificent creatures. The Ziwa rhino ranch is also home to several other wildlife including,

Uganda kob, Bushbuck, Oribi, Waterbuck, Common duiker, Warthog, Vervet monkey, and Black-and-white colobus monkeys among others. The Ranch is also home to several bird species, including the Shoebill stork, Grey crowned crane, African fish eagle, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Malachite kingfisher, Pied kingfisher, Giant kingfisher, African jacana, Hadada ibis, Open-billed stork, Black-headed heron, White-crested turaco, and the Yellow-throated longclaw among others.

After the rhino tracking experience, you can have lunch at the Ranch. After lunch, you’ll proceed with a journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Enter the park through the Kichumbanyombo Gate and drive through the Budongo Forest Reserve where you will encounter baboon by the road side. Continue with the drive far deeper in the park as you witness the varied vegetation zones. You’ll then visit the top of the falls. Visit the top of the Falls for an opportunity to witness the large Nile River squeeze through a narrow gorge (7 meters) and then plunge down 45 meters with a thunderous roar. After witnessing the majestic falls, drive to your booked safari lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise to the bottom of the Falls

On the second Day of this 5 Days Wildlife Safari, you’ll start your day with a hot breakfast at around 5:30 AM. After breakfast, you’ll set of from your lodge for a sunrise game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. The game drive will take you through the Buligi Game Track which stretches about 120 to 170 kilometres between the Victoria Nile in the south and the Albert Nile in the west. Some of the wildlife spotted on this track include; Large herds of Uganda kob, Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeest, Oribi and warthogs among others.

The other popular tracks or trails to follow in the park include the Pakuba Track, the Queens track and the Albert track all which will offer visitors an opportunity to witness more wildlife in the park. Later after the thrilling wildlife viewing experience, you’ll return to the lodge. Have lunch at the lodge and short rest.

After lunch, go for a boat cruise experience to the bottom of the falls. The boat cruise to the bottom of the falls offers an opportunity for visitors to witness large schools of hippos, Nile crocodiles and several other animals that are usually seen at the River banks. After this experience, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

After a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, depart the lodge in Murchison Falls National Park and start driving northwards to Kidepo Valley National Park. This long journey takes you through the varied countryside passing through several popular towns. The drive will take about 7 hours, arriving in the park in the late afternoon. You’ll then proceed to your booked accommodation within the park.

In the afternoon, you can go for an optional Afternoon game drive in the park or rest at the lodge, unwinding from the long bumpy transfer. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
