Day 1: Transfer flight to Kibale Forest National Park

This adventure starts with a transfer to Kibale National Park. From Entebbe International Airport, you’ll board a flight to Kasese Airstrip from where you’ll be transferred by road to Kibale National Park. The drive from Kasese to Kibale is about 2 hours. You’ll arrive at the lodge at lunchtime and check-in. Enjoy lunch and a short rest before embarking on an afternoon adventure to the Bigodi Wetland. The Bigodi wetland is a a popular spot for nature adventure, boasting a wide range of variety including birdlife and wildlife.

After your adventure here, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Today, you’ll enjoy your first primate tracking adventure, Chimpanzee trekking. Start your day at the morning with an early morning breakfast at your lodge. After breakfast, depart the lodge and drive to the park headquarters where you’ll join other trekkers for a briefing and later trekking. The park officials will take you through all the necessary information about chimpanzee trekking including; the must-follow guidelines and what to expect during the trek.  After the briefing, you’ll then be divided into small groups of about 8 members which will be allocated to different chimpanzee communities.

Following the lead of your ranger guides, indulge In the thick jungles of Kibale National Park to search for the chimpanzees.  The trek lasts between 2 hours to 6 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees. As you trek through the forest, you’ll also come across various other resident primate species like black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys among others. Kibale is also home to a diverse range of birdlife, especially the forest species. After finally locating the chimpanzees, you’ll enjoy viewing the primates for about one hour. You’ll be thrilled by these playful primates as you’ll witness them mimic human behaviors since they share up to 96% DNA with humans. Later after your adventure, you’ll return back to the starting point or visitors center where your driver guide will be readily waiting for you.

TRasfer back to the lodge, arrive at the lodge and enjoy a refreshing meal. Spend the rest of your day relaxing at the lodge, admiring the surrounding beauty. Dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Following an early morning breakfast from your lodge at Kibale Forest National Park, you will embark on a road transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive from Kibale National Park to Quen Elizabeth National Park is about 3 hours through the scenic countryside. You’ll enjoy viewing the stunning landscapes of Uganda, driving through the tee plantations arriving at Queen Elizabeth National Park in time for lunch. Upon arrival in the park, continue with a drive to your booked safari lodge. Arrive at the lodge and check in.

Lunch will  be served at the lodge. After lunch and a short relaxation at the lodge, you can go for an afternoon game drive in the park. Queen Elizabeth is one of the wildlife hotspots in Uganda boasting diverse wildlife species including the members of the African Big Five. Your adventure will take you to some of the popular wildlife viewing hotspots in the park – guaranteeing opportunities for spotting various wildlife and birdlife. After your evening game drive, you’ll drive back to your booked safari lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After about 4 hours of searching through the several trails, you will then head back to the hotel for lunch before going for an evening boat cruise. The boat cruise on the Kazinga channel is famous to be very rewarding with wildlife sightings. Later on, have a short sunset game drive en route to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

After early morning breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing from the park guides. Thereafter head to the jungle for gorilla trekking that starts from 8:00 am. Head to the forest for a trek that lasts about 2 to 4 hours or more depending on where the mountain gorillas have spent their night.

After meeting with the gorillas, you spend a maximum of 1 hour in the presence of the gorillas. After an encounter with the giant gorillas, you trek back to the start point. Remember to carry some drinking water and snacks or foods to keep you energized.

Receive a congratulatory certificate at the park headquarters and then transfer to the hotel. Have late lunch then relax and spend the evening on a Batwa cultural experience, later have dinner and overnight at hotel.
