Detailed 3 Days Gorilla Fly-In Safari – Luxury Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

Day 1: Fly from Entebbe to Kisoro – Transfer to Four Gorillas Lodge

Your safari begins with a scheduled domestic flight from Entebbe International Airport to Kisoro Airstrip. The flight provides a scenic introduction to southwestern Uganda, with beautiful views of the countryside, rolling hills and volcanic landscapes as you approach Kisoro.

Upon arrival at Kisoro Airstrip, you will be met by your safari driver/guide and transferred by road to Four Gorillas Lodge, located near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes you through the picturesque highlands of southwestern Uganda, characterized by terraced hills, forests and local communities.

After checking in at the lodge, you will have time to settle in and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Depending on your arrival time, the remainder of the afternoon can be spent relaxing at the lodge, enjoying the scenery or taking a short walk around the surrounding community.

Your guide will also brief you about the following day’s gorilla trek, including what to expect, appropriate clothing and preparations for the forest adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – Batwa Community Visit

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for registration and a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. The briefing will cover trekking guidelines, safety procedures and responsible interaction with the gorillas.

You will then begin your gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers, you will enter the dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take several hours depending on the location of the gorillas and the terrain.

Once you locate the gorilla family, you will have a precious opportunity to observe them as they feed, move through the forest and interact with one another. The encounter offers an intimate glimpse into the lives of these remarkable primates in their natural habitat. After the permitted viewing time, you will trek back through the forest and return to the park headquarters.

You will then return to Four Gorillas Lodge for lunch and some time to relax after the trek.

Later in the afternoon, you will visit a nearby Batwa community for a cultural experience. The Batwa are among the indigenous peoples historically associated with the forests of the Great Lakes region, and the visit provides an opportunity to learn about their traditions, history and connection with the forest.

After the cultural experience, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Fly from Kisoro to Entebbe

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and transfer by road to Kisoro Airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Entebbe.

Depending on your flight schedule, you will have some time to enjoy the morning scenery around Kisoro before departing. The flight back to Entebbe provides a convenient conclusion to your gorilla safari, allowing you to connect with onward domestic or international travel arrangements.
