Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

From Nairobi, your driver guide will pick you up and start your journey to Samburu National Reserve. Drive northwards, pass near Thika and continue through some breathtaking scenery dotted with rushing mountain streams and fields of tea and coffee. Arrive at Nanyuki town from where you’ll continue north to Isiolo, the last major stop on the journey into the remote Northern Frontier district. Continue with a drive to Samburu National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch.

Upon arrival, proceed with a drive to your booked lodge and check in for lunch and a short rest. You’ll experience your first adventure on this trip as you embark on an afternoon game drive in the dusty plains of Samburu National Reserve. Samburu ins home to a diverse number of wildlife species, including elephants, zebras, lions, and several antelope species that you’ll encounter during your game drive.

Day 2: Samburu National Reserve

Today you’ll spend the whole day adventuring in the Samburu National Reserve. Enjoy an early breakfast and later depart the lodge for a full day adventure in the Reserve. Your experienced driver guide will take your to some of the best wildlife viewing spots in the reserve, allowing you to spot all the top wildlife species here.

You’ll have a lunch break in between the game drive before embarking on yet another adventure in the afternoon. In the afternoon, you’ll explore other parts of the reserve that you might have missed during the morning game drive, witnessing different species of flora and fauna while the sun is setting. The Samburu Reserve is one of the most visited national reserves for its abundance of wildlife, ranging from the rare Northern specialist species such as Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, and gerenuk to the Beisa oryx, which are often referred to as the Samburu Special Five. Later return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve – Aberdare National Park

Today, wake up and enjoy breakfast at your lodge. After breakfast, travel south, crossing the equator to The Aberdare Country Club, nestled on the slopes of Mweiga Hill. You’ll enjoy lunch here before proceeding with your journey to Naro Moru River Lodge, located in the forest on the mountain slopes of the Aberdare Mountains. This outstanding lodge offers high-altitude game viewing, where you can enjoy the views of different wildlife species including, the giant forest hog, bush pig, tree hyrax, large spotted genet, and the elusive bongo among others. You’ll spend a night here.

Day 4: Aberdare National Park – Lake Nakuru National Park

Today, following breakfast, embark on a journey to Lake Nakuru National Park with an en-route game drive. The journey from Aberdare to Lake Nakuru National Park is about 4 t0o 5 hours. You’ll arrive in Lake Nakuru in time for lunch and then proceed to your booked safari lodge. Lunch will be served at the lodge.

In the afternoon, after lunch and a short rest, embark on a comprehensive game drive in this scenic park, and visit to viewpoints which offer superb photo opportunities. Lake Nakuru is one of several Rift Valley lakes in Kenya, known for hosting millions of flamingos and several other water birds. Besides its impressive array of birdlife, the park is also home to over  56 different species of mammals, including white rhinos and buffalo, among others.  After the afternoon Game drive, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park – Maasai Mara National Reserve

Enjoy an early breakfast and check out of the lodge, and start the drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve, where your other adventure waits. The journey from Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve is approximately 5 hours. You’ll arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch and proceed to your booked safari lodge, check in and enjoy lunch.  After lunch, have some time to refresh and cool off before embarking on your first adventure in Masai Mara National Reserve.

The “Magical Mara” is one of Kenya’s best wildlife viewing areas, known for its impressive numbers of the African Big Five Animals (lion, leopard, rhinos, buffalo, and elephant), and the spectacular mammal migration – the Great wildebeest Migration. Explore the Reserve on an afternoon game drive, witnessing its stunning beauty and endless plains that teem with a large number of wildlife species.

After the adventure, return to Maasai Mara Sopa lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Maasai Mara National Reserve

For those interested in witnessing the Great wildebeest migration, this day offers the best opportunities as you’ll have a full day to explore the Reserve. Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, depart the lodge with lunch boxes and start your adventure in the Reserve. Your driver guide will take you to some of the best wildlife viewing spots for opportunities to witness the different wildlife species here, including the African Big Five Animals (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, and elephant).

For the migration, you’ll follow different migration routes where you’ll encounter large herds of mammal grazers traversing the Reserve. The herds usually attract predators, which gives visitors incredible opportunities to spot the majestic cats in the wild and perhaps as they try to make a kill if they are lucky.

Lunch will be enjoyed between the game drives at a scenic spot that is safe. Later, after lunch, proceed with your adventure in the park, explore the various areas, including the Mara River region, for more wildlife viewing opportunities. After the adventure, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Maasai Mara National Reserve – Lake Naivasha National Park

Wake up and enjoy breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast, depart the lodge for Lake Naivasha. The journey from Masai Mara National Reserve to Lake Naivasha is about 5 to 6 hours. Arrive in Lake Naivasha and proceed to your booked safari lodge. Check in at  the lodge and enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon, there is an optional boat ride (at an extra cost). Visit the Crescent Island, which can be described as a garden of Eden, an animal sanctuary, or simply a little paradise. Enjoy the stunning views around the island, further spiced with the presence of different wildlife species, including giraffes, zebras, impalas, and hippos.

Day 8: Lake Naivasha – Amboseli National Park

Enjoy an early morning breakfast before setting off for Amboseli National Reserve.  The Amboseli National Park is situated due south of Nairobi, about 250 to 207 kilometers from Lake Naivasha (5 to 6 hours drive). The journey to Amboseli takes you through the scenic countryside of Kenya, driving through popular towns and local villages. You’ll arrive in Amboseli in time for lunch and proceed to your booked safari lodge. Check in at the lodge and enjoy lunch and a short rest.

Spend the rest of your day relaxing at your safari lodge.  For the more adventurous, you can opt for an afternoon game drive.

Day 9: Amboseli National Park

Today, you’ll spend the whole day exploring Amboseli National Park. Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at the lodge, after breakfast, depart the lodge and start your adventure in the Park. Enjoy a game drive in the park viewing different wildlife with the towering views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit.

Amboseli is a great wildlife viewing destination, known for its large herds of elephants, lions, buffalo, hyenas, leopards, and cheetahs, among others.  In the afternoon, you can continue with a wildlife viewing experience or go for an optional Maasai village tour (at an extra cost)

Later return to the lodge for dinner and an activity overnight stay.
