Detailed 8 Days a Tale of Serengeti and Mountain Gorillas Itinerary

Day 1: Tarangire National Park- Game drive

Today our safari adventure begins! You’ll be picked up from the airport or place of stay in Arusha and then driven for 2 hours to Tarangire National Park. Arrive in Tarangire and enjoy a thrilling game drive in the park. Tarangire is well known for its large elephant herds and abundance of ancient baobab trees (the largest trees on the continent). From the open roof of the vehicle, you will be able to experience the charming Tarangire National Park – witnessing the seasonal swamps, savanna, and Tarangire River that boast a large number of wildlife species.

You will spot a variety of bird species and wildlife including; giraffes, impalas, zebras, lions, leopards, elands, warthogs, and elephants among others. As it nears lunchtime, you will drive to your books lodge where you will enjoy lunch and a short rest. After lunch, embark on another game drive in the park to have more wildlife viewing opportunities. As your day draws to a close, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti National Park- Afternoon Game Drive

Wake up and have breakfast at your lodge. After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park. Enjoy this transfer on a long and bumpy road for about 4-5 hours – through the stunning countryside and stunning landscapes. Drive the fascinating game en route, up the crater highlands towards the vast plains of Serengeti. Arrive in Serengeti National Park in time for lunch and proceed to your booked lodge. Arrive at the lodge and check-in.

After a sumptuous lunch at the lodge, embark on an afternoon adventure in the Serengeti plains for excellent game-viewing opportunities. Serengeti National Park is renowned worldwide for its abundant wildlife species including lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos, elephants, hyenas, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, gazelles, wildebeests, and several bird species among others. Enjoy spotting various wildlife species during your evening adventure in Serengeti. As your day comes to a close, drive back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Explore the Vast Savannah Plains of Serengeti

Today you will explore the iconic Serengeti National Park. Start your day early in The morning with an early morning breakfast. After breakfast, depart your lodge with a packed lunch and embark on a game dive in the vast plains of Serengeti to search for different wildlife species. Your drive guide is very experienced an will make sure you get the best experience while here. You will visit different Wildlife hotspots for opportunities to spot both the African Big Five and the spectacular wildebeest Migration.

Have a lunch break in between the drive, and enjoy your picnic lunch at a scenic spot in the park. After lunch, embark on another thrilling game drive in the park for more wildlife viewing opportunities. After your adventure, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive- Transfer to Ngorongoro

Today we will wake up very early in the morning (around 6:00 am) for a sunrise game drive, to spot the animals when they are most active. We will then stop at a picnic site to enjoy breakfast in the bush and continue with the game drive before returning to the camp (around noon) for a hot lunch. Afterwards, load the vehicle, depart camp and continue to Ngorongoro where we will have dinner and an overnight stay at our booked accommodation for the night.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive- Transfer to Arusha/Flight to Uganda

Today we will have an early breakfast and descend to the crater afterwards. The Ngorongoro Crater floor is a hevan for wildlife lovers, renowned for hosting the largest lion population in Africa. The crater floor is also home to other top wildlife species including buffalos, rhinos, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, and various bird species among others.

Spend your day exploring the crater floor for excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. As it nears to lunch time, you driver guide will drive you to s safe and scenic spot where you can enjoy your picnic lunch from. After lunch, ascend back to the crater rim and check out of your lodge. Drive back to Arusha for a and continue to the airport and check-in for our evening flight into Uganda.

Arrive in Uganda and transfer to your booked hotel in Entebbe. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 6: Transfer to Impenetrable Bwindi Forest

After your breakfast, you will be picked up by your safari guide/driver to begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This long journey through the scenic country side is rewarding with beautiful sceneries and stunning landscape that you will enjoy viewing. Enjoy a brief stop at Uganda Equator en-route for a cup of coffee and a chance to look through the many craft markets for a few souvenirs or gifts for friends and family. This is followed by yet another stop, in Mbarara town for lunch. Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable where you will check into your booked safari lodge for dinner and your overnight stay on arrival.

Day 7: Gorilla Tracking – Batwa Pygmy Cultural Encounter

After the briefing, you’ll venture into Bwindi Forest on foot and enter a world suspended outside of time! The undergrowth thrives with diverse plants, mammals, and birds. It’s a grueling task to press on through walls of vines and vegetation as your heart pumps from effort and anticipation. It may be minutes or hours before you come upon a gorilla family but when you finally do, the encounter sweeps us into a timeless moment.

You watch the juveniles play as the impressive adults groom and keep a sly but watchful eye on their human visitors. In this moment, a feeling of kinship rises to close the gap that grew between us and our primate relatives over millennia. You descend elated and arrested in a timeless moment to be told and retold for years to come. Return to the lodge to catch your breath before your next hard adventure with the Batwa also known as the pygmies that originated from the Ituri forest of Congo.

After a refreshing meal and a short rest at the lodge, visit the Batwa for an immersive cultural experience. The Batwa are a hunter-gatherer tribe that once lived in these forests with gorillas for so many years until their eviction for conservation purposes. These locals have a wide knowledge of the forest and its inhabitants. You will enjoy their cultural performance and learn about their ways of life. After your tour, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Drop off in Entebbe

After breakfast at the lodge, check out and start your journey back to Entebbe. Arrive at Entebbe and proceed with a drop-off drive at your preferred point (Airport or Hotel in Entebbe).
