Your second day begins with an early departure from Kampala as you journey northwest to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected area, spanning 3,840 square kilometers. En route, a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary offers a rare opportunity to see rhinos in their natural habitat during a guided nature walk. After a delightful lunch at Masindi Hotel, you’ll continue to the park, where the breathtaking Murchison Falls await.

Witness the mighty Victoria Nile as it forces its way through a narrow seven-meter gorge, dropping 43 meters in a spectacular display of nature’s power. The thundering falls create a mesmerizing spray, often accompanied by a brilliant rainbow—a sight that captures the essence of the Nile. Relax and unwind with a sumptuous dinner and overnight stay at Pakuba Safari Lodge, where the beauty of the surrounding wilderness continues to enchant.

Day 3: A Boat Cruise on the River Nile

Start your day with an exhilarating game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, where your Jungle Uganda Safari Tour guide will help you spot iconic African wildlife such as elephants, lions, Rothschild’s giraffes, and, if you’re fortunate, the elusive leopards. After a hearty breakfast at the lodge and some relaxation by the pool, embark on an unforgettable boat cruise upstream on the Victoria Nile.

This journey takes you to the base of the Murchison Falls, where the river narrows into the Devil’s Cauldron. Along the way, marvel at the abundance of wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and a myriad of bird species like the rare shoebill stork. The boat cruise offers a unique perspective on the Nile, showcasing its diverse ecosystem in all its glory. After a day filled with adventure, return to Pakuba Safari Lodge for dinner and a restful night.

Day 4: Fort Portal and the Mountains of the Moon

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive southwest from Murchison Falls, descending the Albertine Escarpment of the Western Rift Valley. Your journey takes you through the historic town of Hoima, the heart of the Bunyoro Kingdom, where lush tea plantations and traditional homesteads dot the landscape.

As you approach Fort Portal, the capital of the Tooro Kingdom, you’ll be greeted by the towering Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the “Mountains of the Moon.” This region’s beauty is legendary, with its verdant hills and mystical landscapes providing a stunning backdrop. After a long day of travel, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale Forest Camp, nestled in the heart of this captivating region.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park

Today’s Jungle Uganda Safari Tour adventure takes you into the dense forests of Kibale National Park, renowned for its diverse primate population. After an early breakfast, you’ll set out for a chimpanzee trekking experience that begins at 8:00 AM. Accompanied by an expert guide, you’ll traverse the forest in search of chimpanzees and other primates like the phoestes, red colobus, and red-tailed monkeys. The forest is alive with the sounds of these playful creatures, as well as the songs of birds and the flutter of butterflies.

Your guide will offer fascinating insights into the park’s ecosystem, making this an educational as well as an adventurous experience. After lunch, visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, an eco-tourism site that showcases the region’s unique flora and fauna. On your return, marvel at the scenic beauty of the Kasenda Crater Lakes, which offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Return to Kibale Forest Camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 6: The Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Begin your day with a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, following the majestic Ruwenzori Mountain Range. As you enter the park, keep your eyes peeled during a game drive for sightings of waterbucks, elephants, and perhaps even the elusive leopards. After lunch at the Mweya Peninsula, embark on a two-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George.

This channel is teeming with wildlife, offering close-up views of hippos, buffaloes, and a wide variety of bird species. The boat cruise is not only a prime opportunity for wildlife photography but also a chance to witness the incredible biodiversity of this region. After this enriching Jungle Uganda Safari Tour experience, you’ll return to Twin Lake Lodge for a well-deserved dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: The Tree Climbing Lions of Ishasha Sector

Your Jungle Uganda Safari Tour journey continues as you transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This area is famous for its unique population of tree-climbing lions, which can often be seen lounging in the branches of fig trees. A midday game drive through the open savannah provides the perfect opportunity to spot these lions, as well as other wildlife that thrives in this unique ecosystem.

After lunch en route, you’ll continue to Bwindi, home to the last remaining mountain gorillas. As you arrive, the dense, mist-covered forest promises the adventure of a lifetime. Dinner and overnight at Four Gorilla Lodge will prepare you for the next day’s extraordinary gorilla trekking experience.

Day 8: The Encounter with Mountain Gorillas

Today is the highlight of your Jungle Uganda Safari Tour —mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. The trek through the dense forest can be challenging, but the reward is unparalleled. As you encounter a family of mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, the experience is both humbling and exhilarating.

These gentle giants, known for their shy and peaceful nature, will captivate you as you observe them up close. After the trek, if time permits, you may opt for a community walk to interact with the local people, including visiting coffee farmers. This day will undoubtedly be one of the most memorable experiences of your life. Dinner and overnight at Four Gorilla Lodge.

Day 9: Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, you’ll transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park, known for its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes. A game drive through the park offers a chance to spot zebras, impalas, elands, and the striking long-horned Ankole cattle. In the afternoon, enjoy a tranquil boat cruise on Lake Mburo, where you can observe hippos, crocodiles, and a myriad of bird species, including the elusive African finfoot and the majestic fish eagle. Lake Mburo is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 250 species recorded in the park. After a day filled with wildlife encounters, you’ll retreat to Mpogo Safari Lodge for dinner and a peaceful night’s rest, surrounded by the park’s natural beauty.

Day 10: Cultural Immersion and Departure

Your final day begins with a unique cultural experience—participating in the traditional milking of Ankole long-horned cattle at Mpogo Farm Lodge. This hands-on activity offers insight into the daily life of the Banyankole people, known for their rich cultural heritage and pastoral lifestyle. After breakfast, you’ll learn more about the Banyankole’s traditions, including their deep connection with cattle, which are central to their identity.
