DETAILED ITINERARY: 14 Days Uganda Kenya & Tanzania

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked by your driver and be transferred to your booked hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Flight from Entebbe International Airport to Bwindi

Following your breakfast in the morning, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for a domestic flight to either Kihihi or Kisoro airstrips close to Bwindi National Park. The airstrip will depend on the sector in which you will be trekking the mountain gorillas. From the airstrip, our driver guide will transfer you to your booked accommodation. Check in and relax at the lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest

Early morning, your hotel will provide breakfast such that you get ready for the transfer to the park headquarters. You are expected to be at the park headquarters by 8:00 am local time for briefing on the gorilla trekking etiquette from the park rangers.

It is at this time when allocation of a gorilla family for each 8 members to trek is allocated. If you have any specific needs or are unable to hike for further distances communicate during briefing such that you are allocated a close family.

After briefing, you receive your trekking stick and start the walk to the forest for the experience. Trekking to and from is dependent on where the gorillas spent their previous night, the nearer they are the faster you see them and vice versa. However, when you meet the family, you are allowed to spend maximum 1 hour seeing them go along with their daily lifestyle.

Take this time to enjoy the experience and record memories using your non flash photography camera. After the one hour you trek back to the park headquarters where you receive a congratulatory certificate and be driven to your hotel by driver. Have Lunch and relax at hotel.

Day 4: Flight from Bwindi to Entebbe International Airport

On this day, you will be transferred to the airstrip after breakfast for a domestic flight back to Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight to Nairobi.

Day 5: Nairobi- Amboseli

After early morning breakfast in Nairobi, you will embark on the journey to Amboseli National Park via the Nairobi – Mombasa highway. You will pass local homesteads and plantations, arriving in Amboseli time for lunch. Check in to your booked accommodation and get ready for the first game drive. Keep eyes peeled for herds of elephants and other animals. Towards in the evenings and perhaps early in the morning when the clouds are clear, look out for the snowy peak of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Drive time: 6 – 6.5 hours

Day 6: Amboseli full day Safari 

After breakfast, your tour guide/driver will pick you from the lodge and depart for a game drive with your lunch boxes in the Amboseli national park. The park is a home for huge elephants and also a nice place where you can view the famous Mt Kilimanjaro only if the weather is favorable enough. After the game drive, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Amboseli- Naivasha

With a heart-filling breakfast, you will enjoy the natural beauty of Amboseli National Park for one more time on a game drive as you also look upon the Kilimanjaro peak in the morning light. You will then head out of the park on the journey to Lake Naivasha driving through the scenic views of the Great Rift Valley. You will have a lunch stop in Nairobi after which you will proceed to Lake Naivasha arriving in the afternoon in time for a boat ride.

Day 8: Naivasha- Masai Mara

We’ll arise to the sounds of birds and go for a game drive through the park. You can opt to get to the nearby Crescent Island Sanctuary which is a private reserve teaming with grazing wildlife and birds or the neighboring Hell’s Gate National Park that offers a different perspective with its towering cliffs and active steam vents. All these are optional activities but soon will be on the road toward the big Park Masai Mara.

You’ll be at the park in time for a short afternoon game drive and take in the grandeur of this world-famous reserve, home to the big cats. After the game drive, dinner will be served at your accommodation and overnight.

Day 9: Masai Mara full day

Unlimited game drives extravaganza!

After breakfast,  you will head out  for a full day game viewing within the Mara reserve with packed lunch boxes. You will be able to capture the sunrise and probably get a chance to spot several animals that call Masai Mara home. You will later stopover at the hippo pool picnic site to have your lunch and watch the hippos and crocodiles. Later proceed for an evening game drive until sunset. You will have golden opportunity to explore the great Masai Mara. Return to the camp for dinner and night.

Day 10: Masai Mara- Serengeti

Depart Masai Mara early morning for a transfer to Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. On arrival check in at booked hotel.

Day 11: Serengeti Full Day

Full day safari in Serengeti National Park with option for morning and afternoon game viewing. With a wildebeest population of about 2 million and several other hoofed species (which include zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, impala, topi, Grants gazelle, Kongoni, Eland, dik dik, klipspringer, roan, Oryx, oribi, waterbuck, buffalo, giraffe, elephant and warthog), the Serengeti is sure to attract a string of prey such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, golden jackals and bat eared foxes. Black rhinoceros are also seen mostly around Moru kopjes area. Serengeti also offers rewarding bird viewing with over 450 species include ostrich, kori bustard, variety of larks, finches, raptors, lilac breasted roller and others.

Day 12: Serengeti- Ngorongoro

After morning breakfast at hotel, drive to Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area. The crater has evolved into a unique and integral part of Tanzania’s ecosystem. The crater is actually a caldera, measures 22.5 km’s across and the rim walls stand 610m high. Views from within and from the rim are breathtaking. Ngorongoro crater is home to 30,000 animals and a large variety of birds, which rarely move from the area due to the availability of water through wet and dry seasons. Have lunch and evening game drive at the crater.

Day 13: Ngorongoro Full day

Following your morning breakfast, you will head out for a full day’s gave drive through the park in your 4×4 safari vehicle with packed lunch boxes. The crater area is an awesome sight. You will be viewing what is described to be the “Eighth Wonders of the World” which is home to the big cats and other animals like the rhinos, zebras, Hippos and colorful birds including the flamingos depending on the season and level of water in the crater.

Day 14: Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
