Murchison Falls National Park – Uganda’s Best Wildlife Parks
Murchison Falls National Park is a perfect Uganda safari park popularly visited by many visitors each year because it’s very accessible from the country’s capital – Kampala. The park is crossed by the Nile River that forms the mighty Murchison Falls. The falls and the wildlife in the park, make it such an interesting place to tour. The park is home to the African Big Four which include Buffaloes, Leopards, Lions, and Elephants.
The park is part of the Murchison Falls Conservation area which is also home to the popular Murchison Falls from which it borrows its name. There are 76 mammal species, including giraffes, elephants, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, kobs, bushbucks, waterbucks, oribi, jackals, and many more that can be seen in the park. The list of birds counts 450 species making it a good Uganda birding safari spot.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the two gorilla habitats in Uganda. Many tourists prefer to trek gorillas in the park during Uganda gorilla tracking safaris because of not only the amazing experience but also the ambiance and liveliness in the jungle. Situated in southwestern Uganda, the Bwindi forest is a perfect gorilla trekking.
Bwindi forest is located in southwestern Uganda and is home to about 19 habituated gorilla families. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park just like its name portrays is a gorilla habitat, home to 1 habituated mountain gorilla family known as the Nyakagezi gorilla group. The park covers only 33.7 square kilometers. The park derives its name from the local word “Gahinga” which means a pile of volcanic stones cleared from farmland at the foot of the volcanoes. Nyakagezi is a place in Mgahinga where there is a lot of sumptuous food which is attractive to the gorillas.
The area was gazetted to protect the mountain gorillas as well as other wildlife species in the area. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in Southwestern Uganda. It is within the Virunga Mountains that traverse through Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo. It’s only in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park where mountain gorillas and golden monkeys co-exist therefore the slogan where silver meets gold. Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo Valley National Park dubbed by CNN Travel as the best African wilderness is such a great Uganda safari destination. The park covers 1,442 square kilometers (557 sq mi) situated in the far northeastern region of Uganda within the Karamoja region. Kidepo valley is a rugged savannah park also dominated by Mount Morungole (2,750 m) and transected Kidepo and Narus Rivers.
Kidepo National Park is the furthest park northeast of Uganda approximately 520 kilometers from Kampala –Uganda’s capital. This makes the drive to the park last about 11-12 hours, however, when you reach the park it is all worth it.
Activities to do in Kidepo National Park include game drives, nature walks, and bird watching. Wildlife is a highlight for this park. There are several animals that roam its wilderness with about 86 mammal species known to be within the park.
Some of the wildlife in the park include the Rothschild giraffes, lion, cheetah, spotted hyena, wild dogs, elephants, zebras, African buffalo, bat-eared foxes, antelopes like the elands and dik-dik.

Queen Elizabeth National Park – Uganda’s Best Wildlife Parks
Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most popularly visited national parks because the park has several activities worth visiting. Covering nearly 2000 square kilometers this protected area was named to honor the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in the early 1950s.
The park has picturesque features that were left behind by volcanic action decades ago and now form the major attractions of the park. Some of these include Lake George to the northeast and Lake Edward to the southwest boundaries of the park.
These two are connected by a channel referred to as the Kazinga channel which forms one of the attractions in Queen Elizabeth National Park. There are also craters filled with forests that occasionally remind one of Jurrasic Park.
Along with the Ishasha sector, one can get a chance to see the rare tree-climbing lions. These are very captivating and gentle yet shrewd while hunting their prey.
