March 21, 2022Best Time for Gorilla Trekking & Wildebeest Migration Safari
Best Time for Gorilla Trekking & Wildebeest Migration Safari. The annual wildebeest migration is the most spectacular herd of wildlife that you can see on an African safari and gorilla trekking is a golden moment experience walking with a population of the few remaining gentle giants of the wilderness. Combining a gorilla trekking and wildebeest migration safari will definitely be perfect wildlife (Big 5) and primate tracking experience.
The best time of the year for combining gorilla trekking with a wildebeest migration safari is supposed during the dry season when the wild game can be seen and gorillas easily trekked. There are two dry seasons which are the short and long dry seasons. The long dry season is between the months of June –August and the short dry season is between December –February. These two seasons have less rain and are generally good for all safaris within the East African region.
Gorilla trekking is one of the most amazing primates to track and they are found in Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo. Gorilla trekking can be tailored with a Kenya safari or wildlife safari in Tanzania where the wildebeest migration happens annually in a pattern.
Best time for gorilla trekking and Serengeti wildebeest migration -Tanzania
Serengeti National Park is one of the most famous African wildlife safari game drives destinations. The park is renowned for its large concentration of wildlife including the great migration which includes about two million wildebeest.
The Great Wildebeest Migration is an annual migration of giant herds of animals all through from Northern Tanzania to Kenya. Each wildebeest migration constitutes over two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles moving from Serengeti National Park of Tanzania and Masai Mara National Park of Kenya.
Wildebeest migration occurs in a regular pattern as thousands of the wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move through the Serengeti Masai Mara ecosystem in search of green pasture. With these large herds, this is the largest wildlife group you may ever see on an African safari, this is why it is one of the natural world’s greatest wonders.
February is the perfect month when the wildebeest can be seen in large herds altogether for the calving season. This is a highlight of the wildebeest migration along with the dramatic crossings of the Mara River. June through to September is the peak season in the park and a great time to see the wildebeest in the Serengeti. These are also similarly good times for gorilla trekking either in Uganda, Rwanda, or Congo.
Best Time for Gorilla trekking & wildebeest safari Masai Mara Kenya
Masai Mara National Reserve is situated southwest of Kenya and covers about 1,510 square kilometers (583 square miles). The Reserve is one of the popular Kenya wildlife safari parks, a land with breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife, and endless plains.
The reserve is an amazing Kenya safari destination as it holds several attractions with an excellent year-round concentration of wildlife including thousands of the wildebeest that roam the plains of the park. Wildebeest move in thousands including million wildebeest, zebras, and several other antelopes that form the famous Great Wildebeest Migration which is one of the world’s natural wonders.
Masai Mara is a great wildlife photography destination with lots of wildlife animals like elephants, buffalo, giraffe, lion, cheetah, leopards, zebras, black rhino, hippos, migratory wildebeest, and enormous crocodiles on the Mara River.
The beauty of the wild animals in Masai Mara is that animals are in large numbers and therefore pose very scenic and wonderful sights for tourists. There are large numbers to be seen and therefore surety of the possibility of seeing these animals all year round.
Game viewing is good in the park all year round thanks to the diverse population of the resident animals. However, the best time for a great wildebeest experience in the park is mid-July to August when the herds are big. This time is great for gorilla trekking too and therefore great to combine a gorilla trekking safari and Kenya wildebeest safari.
