A stopover in Migyeera is good for the soul, a hot cup of coffee and their famous chapati go a long way in keeping your hunger at bay…. oh and don’t they have some of the best brownies in Uganda.
Karuma falls…God really has a sense of humor; he gives you a sneak peek into what to expect from the Murchison falls as you go by Karuma bridge…. on to the long Pakwach-Arua highway where the sun sets on vast savannah, the glistering savannah grass basking in the burnt orange sunlight as it sets with the river Nile cutting through just as you turn onto the beaten up path as you enter the park.
No doubt it’s getting dark and as we try to get into the park, clearance and all, the warmth of the UWA rangers stands out, they resonate well with animal kingdoms, they put up their barrier with a smile on their faces.
5 minutes in and we meet a pride of lions (King of the Jungle), about 9 in number, all adult lions camped in the middle of the road, a welcome pride, glistening in the car’s headlights, not bothered one bit about the guests that we were and all we could do is stare in awe…..cameras out and snapping away at our phones and cameras in a bid to get the most out of the moment….and then they lazily got upon at a time, stretched out their limbs and gracefully walked to the edge of the road and disappeared into the bush…..and that for me was my million dollar king of the jungle experience.
